Quantitative Histological Analysis Tool (QuHAnt)

Executive Summary

Digital pathology and whole slide imaging are increasingly popular for toxicological studies. However, quantitative approaches in histopathology can be onerous, time-consuming, and subject to inter- and intra-individual variability. MSU researchers have developed a high throughput tool for the quantification of histological features within whole slide tissue images. The computational quantitative assessment allows for rapid, precise, cost-effective and unbiased histopathological analysis in large studies.

Description of Technology

MSU researchers have developed a program which allows for the computational quantification of comparative histological features. The software automatically detects markers indicating disease and toxicity of the tissue and quantifies histological features that are indicative of a response to the toxin/chemical of interest (i.e. drugs, nanoparticles, viruses, bacteria, radiation).
